As you all know, we have a Small Paws puppy
mill Bichon, named Tennessee Tommy, who is
missing in, or near Warren, Ohio, from his
foster home.

He has been spotted several times today inside
a large mobile home park there. Our Ohio
team leader, Jen Battagla spent the day out
there talking to residents and putting up
posters and handing out fliers. With our
offering a $500.00 reward, several people
have stopped to help us look but as of yet,
no one can get him to come to them.
We know he escaped from the back yard fence
of his foster home, as it had 3-4 large holes
in it. At least we know now that he wasn't
stolen or puppernapped.
We have no official volunteers in the area
so, thanks to our Fairy God Pilots, I boarded
a plane today from Tulsa, Oklahoma to Akron,
Ohio.
At first light tomorrow I will head out to
the site and see if I can set a live baited
trap set for him. Several other rescue groups
of other breeds are helping us and we are
eternally grateful. I am also searching the
local animal controls for a net gun. I used
one once in a training exercise but have
never used one in a real rescue.
It is a large toy looking gun that shoots
a net about 35 feet towards whatever need
capturing. This could be interesting. I can just see
myself hanging by my pantyhose from a tree
after firing the thing.
We are also issuing press releases to all
of the local media, (newspapers, radio, television
news) via Charly Merrill, one of our publicists.
Pam Lagano is also one of our publicity folks,
and whichever one I can reach first, is who
releases information to the press for Small
Paws. They really work beautifully together
and I appreciate them both more than they
can know.
I want to ask you guys to please pray for
the success of this mission. I don't want
to come back home without having had him
in my arms...alive and kickin'.
A dog can escape from anyone at any time.
I have had one of the fosters escape from
my yard once! His name was Alfie and he could
make himself flat like a mouse and squeeze
through a 2 1/2 inch picket fence. It is
a horrible feeling when one gets away from
you.
He had a collar and identification/rabies
tags but it was our signs and posters that
saved this little guy's life. One of our
neighbors found him at a convenience store
at 2 in the morning.

This was the look on his face when after
we got him back, through my thankful tears,
I told him I thought I had "done kilt
him", and I would never ever foster
a dog again. I was out that night, looking
for the greasy spot he would have barely
left if he had been hit by a car. I was a
hysterical mess. I know how it feels when
one gets away from you. It is horrible.
You guys, I am never angry when I hear one
of our dogs has gotten away. I KNOW it can
happen to anyone. But when it happens we
sure want to be notified as soon as possible,
so we can put the LOST DOG protocol in place to begin to find said
missing fuzzball.
Next, we have this in, and have been asked
to relay it on to you guys. You remember
a while back when I was telling you of the
horrors that go on in the Amish Puppy Mills. This is a first hand account by one of our
Small Pawsers.

Robin,
Sarah and I saw first hand the horrors of
the Amish this weekend and I wanted to share
it with you. She wanted a rabbit for Christmas
so we decided that she could have one. We
tried to rescue one from the House Rabbit
Society which is a turn in shelter for unwanted
rabbits, but shockingly the cost to adopt
one was over a hundred dollars and that was
more than I could afford, so we saw an ad
in the paper for baby bunnies 10.00. We called
and got directions and it was about an hour
from our house in Lancaster, PA which is
the Amish area.NEVER in my life have I seen
such filth and inhumane treatment of animals.
In a tiny area smalled than my garage and
covered in plastic, they had crates and crates
of rabbits sitting in no less than 3 inches
of fecal material and the poor rabbits in
the bottom crates were getting the droppings
from those on top. There were chickens sitting
on top of the top crates and dogs tied to
the crates that were not in 2 x 2 foot crates
with puppies inside with them. It was horrible
they were taking 3 week old babies from the
parents I was horrified I was telling them
that they were too young to be taken and
the lady told me I could leave they could
do what they wanted. We walked away in tears
and called the Humane Society to report them
and they told us they could not do anythng
and Animal Cruelty was "closed"
for the holidays. Please please please Robin
tell everyone to NEVER help support these
people whether it is through purchasing animals,
or their quilts or baked goods they are terrible
people.
Thank you for letting me vent to you.

Well, that's the news for now. Please pray
that somehow we can coral this little guy,
Tommy, in Ohio. He is bound to be cold and
hungry after four nights on the run. Tommy...hang
on little Buddy...we're comin. Love, Robin

Hi Robin,
I feel like I am being selfish but I am requesting
the SPR prayer warriors to keep me in their
thoughts and prayers as I go to get a neck
ultrasound Tuesday. I found a small lump
on the side of my neck right under my jaw
2 weeks ago that is concerning me. It has
remained the same size and does not hurt.
I could really use a little ray of sunshine
to pull me through this stressful situation.
Thank you!
