18 week old Buffy weighs 6.9 lbs...and she has a grade 5-6 heart murmur.

This will be our 24th Heart Murmur patient.
We have done this life saving surgery 23 times before.
The Heart Murmur Reunion Page

When we lost MIKEY in New York, after attempting the coil technique there, I promised myself that with all other heart murmur Bichons, I would just fly them down to Texas A&M where we have had success after success.

(Two of our Heart Murmur Babies were taken to Texas A&M and were not candidates for the surgery. They were Chevy and June.)

Our Fairy Dog Pilots, have graciously allowed me unlimited airline travel so that we can get little Buffy down to Texas A&M University Vet School where the experts reside.
We have an appointment for next Tuesday morning for Buffy, at at 10:00 A.M. with Dr. Miller.

Can you turn on your heart light once more for little Buffy? Her surgery will run right at $2000.00 in order to save her life.

This is how to use your major credit card.

UPDATE MARCH 1, 2005

4th year vet student, Ryan Bullock, listens to Buffy's heart murmur.

Dr. Saunders, Cardiology Resident, listens and finds that Buffy's murmur is a grade 6 out of six...the loudest one she could possibly have.

Buffy is out of surgery! Everything just went perfectly! She is going home tomorrow at noon! Our prayers have been answered and our 24th Heart Murmur repair has been a complete success! Thank you for praying for Baby Buffy!

(Ryan, our 4th year vet student took these great pictures for us! Thank you Ryan!)

Preparing for anesthesia.

More pre-op prep.

Anesthesia before surgery.

Dr. Matt Miller makes the tiny incision in Buffy's thigh.

It was a success!

Warming blankets warm Buffy back up after a successful surgery!

Update!

Meet Buffy's new Mom, Patty Shearer! Paty and her husband Bob, drove down to Texas A&M and piocked up their new baby girl. Patty and Bob were grieving the loss of their five year old Bichon from epilepsy. I think Baby Buffy has it made!

Turn on Your Heartlight
By Neil Diamond

Come back again
I want you to stay next time
Cause sometimes the world ain't kind
When people get lost like you and me

I just made a friend
A friend is someone you need
But now that he has to go away
I still feel the words that he might say

Turn on your heartlight
Let it shine wherever you go
Let it make a happy glow
For all the world to see

Turn on your heartlight
In the middle of a young boy's dream
Don't wake up too soon
Gonna take a ride across the moon
You and me

He's lookin' for a home
Cause everyone needs a place
A home's the most excellent place of all
And I'll be right here if you should call me

Turn on your heartlight
Let it shine wherever you go
Let it make a happy glow
For all the world to see

Turn on your heartlight
In the middle of a young boy's dream
Don't wake up too soon
Gonna take a ride across the moon
You and me

Turn on your heartlight now
Turn on your heartlight now
