"Hero"
We were notified by the Mayor's Alliance in New York City, of this 13 year old Bichon found as a stray in sub-freezing temperatures on a Sunday afternoon.

Stephanie Hunter on Long Island, gives Hero a bath. Look at that smile!

Hero has a benign rectal tumor called a perianal adenoma which must be surgically removed.

Small Pawser Sandra Harris, drove from Maryland to New York City to transport Hero to his new Foster mom, Michele Shafer, in Maryland. They tell me his tail never stops wagging!

Hello ROBIN!!!!
Steph and I have worked it out!! I will be heading to meet with
Steph to pick up the boy tomorrow afternoon. I will stay overnight
somewhere and return Thurs morning and drop the boy off to the
vet then. I have arranged for my vet to "fix" him up for the most
part and got his $740 costs down to $500. Michele Shafer,
who lives in Baltimore, will foster him and if he needs additional
cushings tests which might run around $300, she will pay for them.
She also thinks she might fail fostering 101. She sounds like a
really nice, loving, caring person. Just right for this boy. Noel just called
and asked me to take a dog from Laurel up to Steph to give to
Cathy Briody. So of course I am going to do that too. So Robin,
it is all under control an in your next newsletter, please thank everyone
for me and let everyone know what wonderful resources you have.
Talk to you soon,
Sandra>

This is why we here at Small Paws, rescue the old, the sick, and the injured. Sure it costs more, but the rewards are great!
What are we teaching our children if we were to do away with life simply because it was the convenient thing to do?
Thanks to all who helped this lovely older gentleman to live his last years with dignity and respect.

BOY FROM NEW YORK CITY Lyrics

Ooo wah, ooo wah cool, cool kitty
Tell us about the boy from New York City
Ooo wah, ooo wah c'mon kitty
Tell us about the boy from New York City

He's kind of tall
He's really fine
Some day I hope to make him mine, all mine
And he's neat
And oh so sweet
And just the way he looked at me
He swept me off my feet
Ooo whee, you ought to come and see
How he walks
And how he talks

Ooo wah, ooo wah cool, cool kitty
Tell us about the boy from New York City

He's really down
And he's no clown
He has the finest penthouse I've ever seen in town
And he's cute
In his mohair suit
And he keeps his pockets full of spending loot
Ooo whee, say you ought to come and see
His dueling scar
And brand new car

Every time he says he loves me
Chills run down my spine
Every time he wants to kiss me
He makes me feel so fine
Ooo wah, ooo wah cool, cool kitty
Tell us about the boy from New York City

Well he can dance
(He can dance, take a chance with a little ro-)
And make romance
(mance baby, cause he's a looker)
That's when I fell in love
With just one glance
(He's sweet talking and cool)

He was shy
And so was I
And now I know I'll never, ever say goodbye
Ooo whee, say you ought to come and see
He's the most
From coast to coast

Ooo wah, ooo wah cool, cool kitty
Tell us about the boy from New York City
Ooo wah, ooo wah c'mon kitty
Tell us about the boy from New York City
