Meet 16 Month Old Kacey. She was recently sold at this Amish Puppy Mill Auction.

They were trying to sell her to another puppy mill to have more babies in this condition. She would have died if Small Paws had not intervened.

This will be our 25th
Heart Murmur patient.
We have done this life saving surgery 24 times before.
The Heart Murmur Reunion Page

When we lost MIKEY in New York, after attempting the coil technique there, I promised myself that with all other heart murmur Bichons, I would just fly them down to Texas A&M where we have had success after success.

(Two of our Heart Murmur Babies were taken to Texas A&M and were not candidates for the surgery. They were Chevy and June.)

Our Fairy Dog Pilots, have graciously allowed me unlimited airline travel so that we can get little Kacey down to Texas A&M University Vet School where the experts reside.
We have an appointment for next Monday morning, March 28, 2005, for Kacey at at 10:00 A.M. with Dr. Miller.

Can you turn on your heart light once more for little Buffy? Her surgery will run right at $2000.00 in order to save her life.

This is how to use your major credit card.

More later from Texas A&M University.

UPDATE: TUESDAY MARCH 29, 2005

Kacey is examined by her 4th year vet student, Cassandra!

Kacey is doing well! The Cardiologists at Texas A&M are going to coil her tomorrow. They are watching her today for a slight cough, and then surgery will take place tomorrow! More tomorrow from the Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine!
UPDATE! March 30, 2005
Kacey came through the surgery just fine! Her murmur took only one coil and she is now awake and doing very well. The Vet School still has my camera up there and it wiil probably be tomorrow night or Friday morning before I can get surgery pics up. I am traveling home to Tulsa, tomorrow! The surgery was a complete success! Thank you all!

Kacey being held right before discharge by Terri Smith, mom to Buttons and Ruffles. Buttons was killed and Ruffles was severely injured when a pit bull attacked them while they were out on a walk.

More preparation.

Dr. Matt Miller prepares to insert the coil.

Kacey waking up from the life saving surgery.

Turn on Your Heartlight
By Neil Diamond

Come back again
I want you to stay next time
Cause sometimes the world ain't kind
When people get lost like you and me

I just made a friend
A friend is someone you need
But now that he has to go away
I still feel the words that he might say

Turn on your heartlight
Let it shine wherever you go
Let it make a happy glow
For all the world to see

Turn on your heartlight
In the middle of a young boy's dream
Don't wake up too soon
Gonna take a ride across the moon
You and me

He's lookin' for a home
Cause everyone needs a place
A home's the most excellent place of all
And I'll be right here if you should call me

Turn on your heartlight
Let it shine wherever you go
Let it make a happy glow
For all the world to see

Turn on your heartlight
In the middle of a young boy's dream
Don't wake up too soon
Gonna take a ride across the moon
You and me

Turn on your heartlight now
Turn on your heartlight now
