Dear Ms. Presnell,

I would again like to extend my condolences to you and your organization
over the loss of Buster. He was an amazing little dog- full of love and
spirit. I wish with all of my heart that we could have done more for him.
While I know the decision you had to make was incredibly difficult, it was
the right thing to do. Without a doubt I would have made the same decision
if he had been my own- and I had grown to love him as my own. He never
would have a had a happy and care-free quality of life which he so
deserved. Animals are such amazing creatures- they give us unconditional
love. You could not have shown your love and caring for Buster more than
by saying good-bye to him when he needed you to.

Ms. Presnell, I was amazed and moved by your support and that of your
organization's. I have not seen the likes of what your group rallied to do
to try and save Buster- it was inspiring and should be commended. As
Buster's doctor I thank you- you gave him every possible chance.

Again I am truly sorry for your loss.

Sincerely,

Shannon Ewing, DVM
Small Animal Intern
Purdue University

You're going back to heaven now,
From whence long ago you came;
You'll be welcomed back by God, Himself,
Who knows your doggy-name.

I think there's Frisbees up in heaven,
And rubber, squeaky toys;
And angels who will play with you,
And little girls and boys.

But, there won't be any thunderstorms,
And no vets with shots up there;
You won't even need a leash,
You'll run freely in God's air.

And when my time on earth is done,
And at heaven's gate I'm near,
I don't want any harps or horns,
Just ... happy barks to hear.*

*Excerpt from Earth Angels Pet Pages

Buster was purchased from a backyard breeder...and he had a hereditary disease, hepatitus type A. The females are the carriers, and the males the disease. He would have needed to be given a blood tranfusion, every three days, to continue his life, here on earth. He was precious, and has touched the hearts of everyone who knew him.
Small Paws® Rescue Inc.,would like to gratefully acknowledge both the efforts of IMOM (In Memory of Magic) , a group that helped with Buster's vet bills, and of the staff and veterinarians, of The Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine, for their fervant fight, to try to save this precious, baby boy.

Message To My Master(s)

The day you laid me down to sleep
you prayed to the Lord; my soul to keep
I know you had to send me on my way
but you sent me to a new; better; and much brighter day
You sent me home; to heaven above
where I'm cradled in God's arms; covered with His love
I understand what you did; you did out of love
and I'll return that love; from my new home above

My sickness is gone; and I'm free here to roam
I run and play in the meadows; here in my new home
We play here by the Bridge; from morning to night
there is no rain here; just warm sunlight

I know you all miss me; I miss you all too
but I'll always be with you; whatever you do
Please wipe the tears; from your weeping eyes
by remembering the good times; from days gone by

When you look out; into the dark of night
I'll be that bright star; your guiding light
We'll meet again at the Bridge one day
when we'll walk in the light; together to stay
