Gem of the Day: I want to introduce all of
the Small Pawsers
to "Dillie the
Deer".
Stay with me here.
HA! You will love
this
as much as I do.
"A veterinarian just doing her job
brought a deer back to life and now, almost
a decade later, has a friend for life.
Dillie the doe is
nearly 4 feet tall,
weighs
130 pounds and is
quite the kisser.
"She's such a loving animal, so full
of love and joy and really a gift to us --
a blessing to us," said veterinarian
and Dillie's mother Melanie Butera."
See one of Dillie's
news stories.
Watch Dillie's Webcam
I'm in contact with Dr. Melanie Butera, Dillie's
Mom and Veterinarian. She knows all about
Small Paws and invites you to view Dillie's
Webcam. She has offered to let us use Dillie's
Book as a fundraiser. Let me know if any
of you are interested! The books would be
"nibbled and scribbled" (nibbled
by Dillie, signed by Melanie), and tell all
about Dillie's amazing story, as well as
an epilogue telling of Melanie's journey!
I'd like to ask the MMPWSPR (Mighty Mighty
Prayer Warriors of Small Paws Rescue) to
pray for Melanie, Dillie's Mom, (melbutera@hotmail.com)
who is receiving chemo. She is a BELIEVER
in the power of prayer!

If you missed our previous newsletter, here it is.
We've taken in two separate rescued Bichons
from two separate North Texas shelters and
BOTH of them are missing an eye. (We've only
got one working pair of eyes between the
two of them).
One of them was hit by a car and the other
one has bladder stones AND is heartworm positive.
OF COURSE HE IS!
Meet "Blinkie" and "Jazz".
They have never met each other, but man,
it is odd when we get in a one eyed Bichon,
much less two at the same time!

"Blinkie"
I was contacted today
by the shelter where
my Ferguson came
from. Last week someone
brought in a male
bichon that had been hit
by a car. His right
eye was hanging out and
they took him to
an emergency clinic to have
the eye removed.
The clinic did X-rays to
see if there were
other injuries and there
was not, but they
did see about 8 or 9 stones.
They can email me
the X-ray on Monday. They
estimate him to be
about 5 yrs old. Good
temperament. Can
we get him?
And meet "Jazz"

Hi Bonnie,

"Jazz"
Jazz is approximately 3 and weighs 13 lbs.
He is HW+ with Upper Respiratory Infection.
He has already been neutered. His left eye
had been removed at the shelter due to injuries
and an abscess. He is at the Colleyville
Animal Hospital effective today 4/20.
Thank you

It will run about $1500.00 just to vet and
quarantine these two Bichons and there are
many others needing help.
Can you help us to
help these precious
one-eyed
Bichons? What would
the chances be of
two
of them coming in
at once?

From: KINGSALL3@aol.com
Please pray for my
heart dog, Mitzi.
The
vet ran blood a panel
last week because
she
suspects Cushings:(
The results show
Mitzi's
kidney function tests
are elevated and
Cushings
has not been ruled
out. The Dr. wants
her
to go on KD food
and have a "Dex"
test run. We have
an appointment with
a HOLISTIC
vet this afternoon
so please pray for
a
GOOD REPORT :)
Thanks a bunch,
Sharon King
Ohio/Ky Team Leader
Thanks for your prayers.
This vet doesn't
think she has Cushings
but is concerned
about
a pancreatic problem
due to high lipase
and
triglycerides. He
put her on a low
fat diet
along with a few
other things and
will retest
her in a month:)
So glad that he doesn't
think it Cushings
and praying for a
good
test result in a
month :)

Dear Robin and Fellow
Small Pawsers,
Our precious Harley,
our first Bichon,
has
gone missing! My
husband, Tom, who
has Alzheimer's,
left the door open
and Harley wandered
out.
We have just moved
and he is unfamiliar
with
the area. This happened
Sunday evening. On
Monday I had to be
in surgery at 5:30AM,
so we had no chance
to search for him
since
Sunday. We have put
up posters and asked
everyone in our complex
to no avail.
Please, Robin, would
you ask our MMPW's
to
pray for him to be
safe and sound and,
if
God wills, back home
with us? They did
it
before and I pray
that they can do
it again!
We are beside ourselves
and Tom feels so
guilty for forgetting
the door.
Thank you and God
Bless You!

you all for your
wonderful prayers!
Ultrasound revealed no tumors, no clots,
no masses-nothing. The Dr. gave me a copy
too.
I am so doing a happy dance!!
Again, I thank you
for your love, support,
concern and your
PRAYERS. Our God
is an awesome
God!

Paws Rescue
We had him for the last five years, He is
very obedient normally when we say "stay"
he will stop wherever he is, so some times
we are used to play with him in the yard
for he loves to run around the yard in circles,
during that time we did not put him on the
leash, this particular day he was not on
leash and did not yield to the command when
he saw some dog across the road. It took
off so suddenly the on coming driver did
not have time to stop the car. That is how
it happened.>
 Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of
Cheri Sisco's "Humphrey", I thought
it was truly the epitome of what we do, and
why we do it. I wanted to use this black
and white picture of Humphrey, taken only
days before his death due to congestive heart
failure, to let those who may be new to Small
Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without
Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known
love. He would have died in a kill shelter,
sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and
Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.
